Audi’s Green Police
Audi promotes the clean diesel technology A3 TDi with the “Green Police”. It is a collaborative advertising campaign collaborating the cheap trick rock band. This campaign adapted the 1979 track “Dream Police” of the band who are timed to roll out for 2010 Super Bowl. The “Dream Police” which becomes “Green Police”, is the anthem of the environment watch dog that awards Audi with the top points for environmental correctness. You can see this campaign online.
In its ad for what is the “Green Car of the Year”, Audi made fun of what green movement should be. The spot features the “Green Police” running and about charging people with their eco-crimes such as the use of incandescent light bulbs and the use of plastic bottles. It was all set to the tune from the Cheap Trick. It was such a lighthearted and fun poke at the green movements and the environmentalists. At the end: There is a green cara sending the message that you don’t have to be colored green to really get green. The car used, by the way, is the Audi A3 TDi, which runs on a clean diesel fuel. Truly, the lighthearted tone of this band with the audi green police works this year. This is a winner since they manage to entertain the consumers while telling them their brands.
